Post-traumatic stress "injury" (PTSI) is a newer, less formal term for the effects of trauma, emphasizing the biological nature of the condition and aiming to reduce stigma by framing it as a physical injury. In contrast, post-traumatic stress "disorder" (PTSD) is the official diagnostic term for a mental health condition with symptoms like flashbacks, avoidance, and mood changes that last for more than a month and interfere with daily life. While symptoms can overlap, the key distinction is that PTSI is often used to describe the initial biological changes, while PTSD is the formal diagnosis for a prolonged mental and emotional response to trauma.

The 12th category listed as a qualifying condition by the Department of Health reads: "A disease that results in nausea, vomiting, wasting, appetite loss, cramping, seizures, muscle spasms or spasticity." Basically, this category is meant to cover any medical condition in which your health care team feels cannabis would be beneficial to treat your symptoms.
